The Mountains are Calling

This past weekend was a culmination of a day trip to my uncle's house in the mountains. It seems every time I visit the area up there- my breath gets taken away by how gorgeous nature is.
It's so refreshing to get out of the city once in awhile and appreciate the quietness of life. Cebu is such an amazing city, it seems to have everything all packed within the land- mountains, beaches, cities, and provinces. Out of everything it has to offer- go for the mountains- they never disappoint.

During our visit, we stopped by Bukwan ni Alejandra, a botanical garden filled with beautiful terraces of carefully cultivated foliage. It was a photographer's paradise.

Bukwan ni Alejandra displays a beautiful array of flowers mainly in pinks, reds, and yellows. It's a feast for the eyes- especially with the backdrop of the mountains.

With a swarm of clouds floating by, this made for such a relaxing stroll through the garden. If you ever find yourself wanting to take a break from Cebu's bustling city- take a fourty-five minute trip to Bukwan ni Alejandra- it's so worth your time.

During our time there we also visited the Temple of Leah. A huge Greek-inspired building that was dedicated to honor the owner's deceased wife. This was an extravagant display of Greek sculpture and marbled flooring. The first thing you'll find yourself saying is- "wow."

Never did I think Cebu would capture the beauty of Greek artistry with the canvas of a tropical rain forest. But lo and behold- it's a true wonder. I also recommend visiting the Temple of Leah. The entrance fee is a bit pricey (75 Pesos/$1.25) but it's a lovely place to relax and enjoy the multiple views.
These two places are just a few of the many wonderful areas in the Cebu mountains. Whether it be a weekend day trip- or a full on backpacking adventure- you'll fall in love with nature all over again.
