A Hidden Treasure: Pho Tre Bien

You'll probably miss the best pho in town when you're going ninety on the freeway.

Pho Tre Bien has been a family favorite since we've moved here. We've been enjoying our favorites: moist, flavorful charbroiled chicken with short grain rice, the spicy clay pot fish, and the occasional bubble thai tea. For years, my family and I have been revisiting this establishment because of its excellence in food and atmosphere-all for a reasonable price.

On the outside, the place looks like a quaint little restaurant, painted a dark green.

Not much of an impression until one steps inside.

Instantly you're transported to a beautiful botanical garden all hidden indoors. A large pond overlays the garden, with graceful koi fish within. Trees, flowers, and exotic bushes pepper the interior.

Bringing friends to this restaurant never runs shy of these comments when we enter the campus.

"Oh wow."

"You'd never expect this inside! Wow."

" Wait...how long has this been here?

" Wait, are we still in El Paso?"

" Sooooo prettyyyy omggggg"

"Wait, I need to put this on my story"

"*gasp*"

But I'm not here just to talk about the scenery.

One of the dishes that keeps bringing me back is the pho.

For those who do not know what this delicious concoction of a soup is: Pho is a street food from Vietnam served with a savory broth, rice noodles, and any variation of meat and vegetable. The noodle soup from Pho Tre Bien is served with cilantro and crispy mung beans.

Basically...it's delicious.

Something about a big, hearty bowl of soup is always a comfort. Pho has that deliciously homey taste, perfectly complemented with a hint of spices, and balanced with the gorgeous freshness of herbs.

For those who haven't had pho, or have been scared to venture out into another cuisine.... you must try this. This thing will open up doors for you!

I could talk about this delicious bowl of yumminess all day, but I'm going to let you try it yourself.

That's enough talk y'all, get slurping!
